Storage in Uxbridge

Not a unit you rent and drive to, but the middle stage of a move: goods collected by the crew, listed as they load, held while the dates settle, and delivered when you say. From here it is needed most on outward moves, where the far end is the least predictable.

Two quite different reasons for it here

Going outward, it is about dates. Country chains slip more than London flat sales, and holding the goods lets you leave on the date that is certain instead of gambling on the one that is not.

Going inward, it is about space. The new flat is smaller and some of what you own will not fit in it. Storing that rather than selling it buys you time to decide properly, which is worth a lot in the middle of a move.

Those are different problems with the same answer, which is why the service sits under any direction rather than under one.

This versus a self-storage unit

A unit is a room with a key, filled by you, open whenever the building is. It suits anyone needing regular access — a trader with stock, a business with files in circulation.

What we do is the other trade: the crew loads at your door, the goods stay as loaded, and access is arranged rather than casual. The trade is two fewer handlings and a lot less carrying, against not being able to wander in on a Sunday afternoon.

For a household between two addresses ours is nearly always right. Where a unit would genuinely suit you better, we will say so.

What to keep with you

If your things are going away for a stretch you need a genuine living kit: clothes for this season and the next, work equipment, documents, chargers, medication, and whatever a child will ask for by the second day.

We go through that before loading and write it down. Retrieving one box from a held load is an arrangement, and doing it three times is an expensive way to find a coat.

Student and short-term holds

A common local use: a room cleared at the end of a tenancy and held over a vacation rather than carted home and back. It is planned like any other hold, just smaller, and it wants booking before the changeover rush rather than during it.
